There is pharmacotherapy (medications), psychotherapy (counselling), physiotherapy, etc. for treating and preventing medical illness. The next natural progression is mediatherapy. The use of media in the form of audio (i.e. music), visual (i.e. video), web-based and printed materials as powerful therapeutic tools to help elicit healthy change. There is a plethora of media available at this time. It is difficult to determine which materials may be helpful. It will be a mandate of mediatherapy.ca to help review some of these materials using a 4 E approach:
With these criteria, mediatherpy.ca will recommend and feature these forms of media on this website. We encourage you to share and send any material which you may feel would be helpful and satisfies the 4 E approach. Dr.P’s mediatherapy blog will be a place to share and discuss ideas about this exciting new therapy.
